Zsolnay well

The Zsolnay Well is one of the most famous wells in Pécs taking place in the southern part of Széchenyi Square. In memory of Vilmos Zsolnay, his son, Miklós Zsolnay donated an ornamental eosin well to the town in 1908. As a model to the ox head shaped outflows served an archeological find in Nagyszentmiklós: a golden drinking vessel. The well was planned by an architect, Andor Pilch. On the well-curb you can read the following:
„May the memorial well of Vilmos Zsolnay / Be the witness forever / To the flowering of Pécs / To the happiness of its inhabitants.”
